Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries!

A frightening statistic reveals that the National Fire Protection Association indicates that 71% of smoke alarms that malfunctioned were found to have missing, disconnected, or depleted batteries. Batteries!!! This is a straightforward and economical solution, likely with spare batteries already available in your home. This statistic underscores the importance of routinely checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors every year.

For nearly three decades, the Energizer brand has collaborated with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) to promote safety within households through the Change Your Clock Change Your Batteries™ program. Each fall, Energizer takes initiative to remind everyone about the critical routine of replacing and testing batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors as clocks are set back for daylight saving time.change-your-clock

Adjust the Clock, Replace the Batteries

As part of the yearly Change Your Clock Change Your Batteries™ initiative, on November 6, Energizer urges everyone to capitalize on the extra hour gained when adjusting clocks to perform this vital task—replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as all safety devices around the house.pexels-photoMaking this a yearly tradition is a simple yet crucial measure that can enhance the safety of you and your loved ones in your home. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to examine other smart devices like your smart thermostat, security cameras, smart locks, bedside flashlights, portable chargers, or security systems to ensure their batteries are functioning properly.

Keep in mind that our outstanding smart devices that provide safety, security, and comfort at home rely wholly on the batteries that power them.

Join forces with me and Energizer in using social media to spread awareness, urging friends and family to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as all connected home devices on November 6. Follow Energizer on Facebook for tips and valuable information about home and fire safety throughout October.

I make an effort to remember this routine. We try to keep extra batteries on hand, but it seems like the type we need is always the one that’s missing!

When my batteries started beeping, I went ahead and changed them. I really need to keep a better check on my batteries to ensure my smoke detectors are functioning. This is so crucial!
