Mummy Hot Dogs Recipe
As autumn and Halloween roll in, it’s an excellent opportunity to get creative with lunch recipes that kids will enjoy.
Hot dogs are a favorite for many kids. Ethan prefers vegetarian versions, while Emma enjoys the hot dogs from Applegate Farms.
By simply altering the dough, you can transform a regular meal into a playful “mummy” creation that makes lunchtime much more fun.
This recipe is versatile: you can omit the cheese or opt for homemade dough instead of store-bought. The emphasis here is on enjoyment!
INGREDIENTS:
1 can of Crescent Roll Dough (or homemade dough)
2 slices of Cheese
8 Hot Dogs
16 Candy Eyes
Cooking spray
DIRECTIONS:
1. Begin by preheating the oven to 375°F.
2. Cut each cheese slice into quarters.
3. Unroll the dough into 4 rectangles and crimp the edges together where cut diagonally.
4. Slice each rectangle into ½-inch stripes and combine 2 strips to create long “bandages”. You should end up with 10 combined pieces of dough, resulting in 40 strips in total.
5. Wrap a “bandage” around each hot dog along with a piece of cheese, ensuring there’s a gap for the face.
6. Place the prepared hot dogs (cheese side facing down) onto a non-stick baking sheet and lightly spray them with cooking spray.
7. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until the dough is lightly browned.
8. Add a small piece of cheese where the eyes should be, returning it to the oven for a minute to melt slightly.
9. Finally, stick 2 candy eyes on each mummy.
